2027 Vietnam National Day

Vietnam National Day on September 2 commemorates the 1945 proclamation of independence by Ho Chi Minh at Ba Đình Square in Hanoi, which declared the Democratic Republic of Vietnam after the end of Japanese occupation. It is a public holiday, and since 2021 workers receive two days off — September 2 plus an adjacent day — making it a long weekend in most years. Flags are raised on homes and streets nationwide, a solemn flag-raising ceremony takes place in front of the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum on Ba Đình Square, and in the evening fireworks light up Hanoi's Hoàn Kiếm Lake area and Ho Chi Minh City; big anniversaries bring military parades.
